The U.S. Chess center offers a wide range of opportunities to play and learn chess. Tournaments, leagues, open play sessions, lessons, online classes, and summer camps are all available. Opportunities begin for kids as young as Kindergarten age.

The C&O Family Chess Center

Location(s): Gaithersburg

The C&O Family Chess Center has provided chess instruction to area families for over 30 years.  C&O offers individual and group chess instruction for all ages, scholastic and summer-chess programs to public, private, and home schools, private instruction and summer camps.

Rockville Chess Club

Location(s): Rockville

Rockville Chess Club is a small group of chess enthusiasts that gather regularly to learn and play.  They welcome players of all levels ranging from beginners to masters and all age ranges can play. They meet twice a month at the Rockville Science Center, and there is an annual membership fee to join.

The MCPL Brigadier General Charles E. McGee branch in downtown Silver Spring hosts a free weekly chess club for all ages and skill levels.

The MCPL Aspen Hill  branch in Rockville hosts a free, non-competitive weekly chess club for all ages and skill levels.

The independent Takoma Park library hosts a free weekly chess session for all ages and skill levels.
