Ballet Petite

Ballet Petite offers a ballet curriculum for 3 to 5 year olds which introduces technique through story ballet and fairytales. Classes are held at two different locations in the Bethesda area during seasonal sessions. The school offers a free trial class for new students.

Bethesda Conservatory of Dance
Location(s): Bethesda
BCD offers a wide range of dance classes including ballet, hip-hop, tap, jazz, and contemporary. Classes begin for students at the age of 2 with a creative movement class as an introduction to dance. Classes begin annually in August and run through June. A separate six-week long summer session is also offered. Week-long full day and half-day summer camps are offered for age 3-9.

Rock Creek Dance Academy
Location(s): Bethesda
RCDA offers classes in ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical for ages 3 and up and of all ability levels. Classes run from September to May. Eight week summer class sessions are also offered in addition to week-long summer camps for kids ages 5-8. Additionally, RCDA schedules "ballerina birthday parties" both in-studio and off-site.

Bethesda Dance Center

Bethesda Dance Center offers classes for preschool to fifth grade. Classes operate on a semester schedule beginning in September. Their program begins for 2-3 year-olds with a move with me parent and dancer class. A creative play dance class is offered for kids ages 3-4. Their intro to dance class begins for preschoolers. Ballet, tap/funk, jazz/hip-hop, and acro begin at kindergarten and continue through 5th grade. Their core dance program begins in 2nd grade. The Core Program is for those who aim to be well-rounded dancers, learning multiple styles. The studio also hosts a summer camp for kids in grades 2-5.

Unity Dance and Movement

Unity is a dance studio that offers an early childhood, youth, and adult dance program. The early childhood program begins with a caregiver and child class as soon as a child is walking and a creative dance class for ages 3-4. The youth program begins at kindergarten with two tracks- the Kickstart classes for youth starting out with 1-2 classes per week or the Soar program for students looking to add more classes. Their classes include ballet, jazz, tap, modern, hip-hop, and poms. Their program follows a 36-week series of study with 2 performances each school year. The studio also offers a summer camp for grades 1-6, as well as private lessons and coaching.

Attitude En Pointe

Attitude En Pointe is a classical ballet academy for children and adults. Their Primary Program offers introductory ballet and tap classes for ages 2 through 6 for boys and girls of any experience level. Their Academy classes provide professional dance training for dancers from ages 6 to 18. Classes are offered in ballet, pointe, pointe prep, men's classes, contemporary ballet, tap, and more. Classes in the Academy range from beginner to pre-professional with both open enrollment and placement-only classes. The studio also offers summer camps and intensives.

Berrend Dance Center

Berrend Dance Center specializes in classical ballet training for children ages 5-18. An introductory division offers classes in 12-week sessions for 3 and 4 year olds. The center offers additional classes in tap, jazz, hip-hop, character, and contemporary. Class seasons run from fall to spring. Berrend also offers both a pre-professional program and a boys-only ballet program by audition, as well as summer camps.

Metropolitan Ballet Theater & Academy
Location(s): Gaithersburg and Clarksburg
MBT trains dancers in ballet, jazz modern, and hip-hop through their Academy, which also provides professional performance opportunities. They offer an introductory program with Grown-Up and Me, creative movement, and early ballet classes for ages 2-7. The youth ballet training program begins at age 7. Classes run for the full academic year. However, MBT also offers four 8-week short sessions for new students to try at the Clarksburg studio.

Impact Performing Arts

Impact offers recreational classes for children age 3-18 in ballet, lyrical, modern, and hip-hop. Classes run on a semester basis in the fall and winter/spring. Impact offers a weekly mommy & me dance class for 2-3 year old dancers and a parent. Impact is also home to four competitive DanceWorx teams for advanced dancers ages 6-18. Week-long summer camps are offered for ages 3-18.

Legacy Performing Arts

Legacy offers classes in hip-hop, acro, jazz, ballet & tap for children ages 2.5 through 17. Tiny tots classes are offered for the youngest students. The school houses a competitive company for 9-18 year old dancers and a "pre-company" for dancers aged 5-8. Summer camps are also offered.

Bella Ballet is an award-winning children's dance studio offering classes in ballet, tap, jazz, and hip-hop for kids ages 2-7. Dancing duos (with adult) classes begin at age 2 and princess ballet classes begin at age 3. Class seasons run for the academic year. Summer camps are offered for kids ages 3 to 12. Additionally Bella Ballet offers customizable princess themed birthday parties.

District Dance offers classes in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, acro, and contemporary dance. Classes begin with the Shimmer program for ages 2-7 and continue in the Shine program for ages 7-17. Classes run from August to July each season. The studio is also home to competition teams for children ages 5-17. Full-day and half-day summer camps are offered for ages 4-12.

Empower by Bella Ballet offers a wide range of dance classes for kids ages 7-18. The studio offers ballet, tap, hip-hop, contemporary/lyrical, pom, and acro classes. Empower is home to a glitter dance team for kindergarten to third graders, a diamonds dance team for third to sixth graders, and an elite team for sixth grade and up.

D'Amour School of Dance offers classes in tap, jazz, hip-hop, poms, and ballet for kids and adults. Teddy Bear classes in ballet and jazz are offered for kids ages 2-3. DCDC offers recreational to intensive programs for dancers of all ages in 14 disciplines. DCDC's Tutu Cute program provides a tap/ballet class for children aged 2-6. P.O.M caters to the beginner recreational dancer offering classes in ballet, jazz, acro, hip-hop, and cheer. P.O.M's mission is to ensure that every girl has access to dance. Preschool dance begins at age 2 and specialized classes begin at age 5. Week-long summer camps are offered for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade.
